Membership

Many individuals have worked hard to make the Nova Scotia Archaeology Society what it is today. Without the support of its members, the Society's most fundamental goals would be unattainable. The task of raising awareness and interest in archaeology in Nova Scotia is not a small one and the Society is always looking to increase membership in order to meet its objectives.

Membership in the Nova Scotia Archaeology Society is open to all persons endorsing the objectives of the Society. Membership entitles the individual to attend all Society functions, vote on Society matters and hold office. Members may invite guests to attend Society functions.

Throughout the year special events are held, including field trips to archaeological sites, workshops and special guest lecturers. The Society produces a newsletter and holds monthly meetings which include presentations by guest speakers.

The fee structure for memberships is as follows:

  • Individual $20
  • Family $25
  • Student $15
  • Senior Citizen $15
  • Institution $45
  • Class (Secondary School) $45

If you are interested in joining, please contact us for a copy of the form, or come to our next free monthly lecture!

Excavating

Archaeologists study humans' past by excavating and analysing material remains. In Nova Scotia, we have a wealth of material dating back as far as 10,000 years. Underwater shipwrecks, Black Loyalist Settlements, Palaeo-Indian sites and colonial era sites are just a few examples of what archaeologists in Nova Scotia are working on.
